Tensegrity, or floating compression, is a structural principle based on the use of isolated components in compression inside a net of continuous tension, in such a way that the compressed members do not touch each other and the prestressed tensioned members delineate the system spatially.
This project researches on tensegrity principle and the architectural application potential of standardized tensegrity units. Unit’s topological change and multiple array types creates spatial diversity and possibility of temporal or permanent program uses. Meanwhile it can be used in various dimensions: responsive surface, installation, etc.
