A small scale library for community residents, the building doesn’t require complex programs. Here “form follows function” is replaced by an explicit logic of “form follows circulation”. Through a sequential arrangement of children and adults’ spaces, the building comes as a loop to make possible continuous movement.
Different programs are placed at different elevations of the inclined floor, connected through ramps, stairs and elevators that scatter around the building. Each space adjusts to the inclined floor through their program characteristics, and form interconnected clusters of mounds and basins.
Ground exterior space are reserved through the spanned building volume. Together with the rooftop plaza they form the major space for residents’ outdoor activities.
